Frequently Asked Questions

How do I schedule a therapy session that fits my needs?

Scheduling a therapy session at Somatic Women is easy and designed to accommodate your unique healing journey. Whether you’re seeking support for anxiety, trauma healing, life transitions, or building emotional resilience, we offer flexible appointment times in Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Florida via telehealth. Our approach combines trauma-informed care with proven therapies such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), somatic therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). These methods focus on helping you live a valued life, build emotional strength, and reconnect with your authentic self. You can book your first session directly through our online scheduler or contact us if you have questions about which therapy might best support your goals. We’re here to help you take that courageous first step toward healing and growth.

Do you accept insurance or offer private pay therapy options?

We currently accept Aetna insurance for clients who have a diagnosis that meets Aetna’s coverage criteria. If you have Aetna, we encourage you to verify your mental health benefits before scheduling. For clients without Aetna or those who prefer a more flexible, private therapy experience, we offer private pay options. Private pay allows for personalized care without insurance limitations, giving you access to our full range of trauma-informed therapies including EMDR, somatic therapy, and ACT. Choosing private pay means you have more control over your treatment pace, session length, and focus areas — ideal for women seeking deeper, sustained healing and growth. If you’d like help navigating insurance or private pay, please reach out; we’re happy to guide you through the process.

What can I expect during my first therapy session?

Your first session is an important opportunity to build trust and establish a therapy plan that fits your needs. We start by exploring what brought you to therapy, your goals, and any challenges you’re facing. Our sessions are trauma-informed and culturally sensitive, honoring your unique identity and experiences. Whether you’re working through trauma, anxiety, or major life changes, the goal is to help you cultivate emotional resilience and live a values-based life. You’ll also learn about the therapies we offer — including EMDR, somatic therapy, and ACT — and how they can support your healing journey. Practical details like session length, frequency, and payment options (including Aetna insurance or private pay) will be discussed to ensure your experience is smooth and supportive from the start.
